The much anticipated “UFC Primetime” series will return to Spike TV on Wednesday. The three part series will focus on UFC 129 Toronto’s headliner between welterweight champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre and challenger, former Strikeforce title holder Jake Shields.
The first of three episodes airs Wednesday April 13th, followed by new episodes on Wednesday April 21t and 28th.
The “UFC Primetime” series gives UFC fans a unique look at the training these athletes do behind the scenes. It gives fans the opportunity to examine the fighters training techniques and really builds the hype before a huge bout like this one.
St. Pierre has been featured in two previous “UFC Primetime” specials. The most recent was his UFC 111 bout between him and Dan Hardy; the second was his UFC 94 fight with B.J. Penn.
Dana White said this about the show, “Everything you didn’t know about Georges St-Pierre from the other seven ‘Primetimes,’ you’ll learn in this one.” After seeing all of GSP’s Primetime specials and his new movie, “The Striking Truth” I’m not sure that there is any more I can possibly learn about the champ, might have to hold that to Dana.
UFC 129 takes place on Saturday April 30th in my hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is the largest event in the history of the UFC with the event selling more than 55,000 tickets within the first hour of it being on sale!
