John Wall Playing Like #1 Pick

Published on November 3rd, 2010

It was very refreshing to watch number one pick of the 2010 NBA Draft, John Wall come out strong against Evan Turner, the number two pick of the same draft. This was the first time the two players have matched up and all eyes were on John Wall. He really shined in his home debut scoring 29 points, 13 assists, 9 steals, 8 turnovers, and 5 fouls. He tied the franchise record for steals and did it all on a sprained ankle.

Wizard’s coach Flip Saunders was impressed with Wall’s will to win the game and thought he fought hard at the end. There is definitely room for improvement for the rookie, but he is showing all the right signs of being very successful within the NBA.

The number 2 pick, Evan Turner came off the bench and didn’t contribute much until the second half of the game. He scored all of his 9 points in the 4th quarter. Although Wall had a huge night, it is difficult at this time to directly compare him to Turner as they have such different roles on their teams.  John Wall is one of the most important players on the Washington Wizard’s line-up where Evan Turner is still trying to find his role on his team.
