Alex Rodriguez Scores Home Run No. 600

Published on August 5th, 2010

After a 12 game drought, Alex Rodriguez has made history by achieving his 600th home run. Rodriguez was 35 years and 8 days when he scored the run making him the youngest player in the history of baseball to achieve this milestone. Funny enough, his 600th run came exactly three years to the day after he scored his 500th run.Baseball legend Barry Bonds congratulated Rodriguez on his achievement, however; he did not forget to mention to A-Rod that he still has 162 to go to catch up to him.

The ball he struck was the 104th specially marked ball that had been used for each of his plate appearances since reaching No. 599. Curious to see how much that ball is going to sell for. Immediately after scoring the run the concession stands began selling commemorative T-shirts for $25. One stand sold out within 2 innings.

The Yankees have been struggling as of lately, they have watched the Tampa Bay Rays pass them for 1st place in the AL East. New York has also been morning the recent loss of owner George Steinbrenner. The Yankees ended up winning the game against the Jays 5-1, ending a three game losing streak.

Congratulations to Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees on achieving this historic milestone. One more thing to make New York Yankees tickets even harder to get.
